About the Instructor:
Bev Hislop is currently Professor of Pastoral Care to Women at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Bev has developed and teaches several courses in the Pastoral Care to Women concentration available on-line and on site at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon and San Jose and Sacramento, California. She is also the Founding Director of the Women’s Center for Ministry, a global hub for training, resources and networking for women in ministry.
Bev has been involved in ministry for over thirty years. She has established and led ministries for women in several local churches on the west and east coasts of US and overseas. She also served in a homeless shelter for families and as a lay counselor for a local pregnancy resource center. Bev was also the former host of the weekly radio program Western Connection for Women.
Bev and her colleagues have authored Shepherding Women in Pain which focuses on understanding and giving effective pastoral care to women who have emotionally painful experiences in life. She also authored Shepherding a Woman’s Heart: a new model for effective ministry to women and was a major contributing author to Women’s Ministry Handbook. Bev earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in S. Hamilton, MA.
